Serial Draft. Surviving the zombie apocalypse in the mountains of Southern Idaho.
There, on the eastern rim of the rift, he took a moment to look around. To the west, he saw his past. In his thoughts, the west represented who he was. His old life lay there. His old life and the most important parts of that life, his wife and daughter, were abandoned and rotting away on a dirt trail. He felt a momentary pang of guilt for not burying them, but he had done what he had done and he couldn’t change that now. The monsters that they had become were not the sweet, innocent and caring people that had once been his loving family.
He looked eastward past the mysterious confines of the town of Prairie and saw the mountains continuing to rise in the distance. If his old life had ended, then it was time for his new life to begin. The lands to the East were unknown to him, new. They would be a perfect place for a beginning.
Note: The Mountaineer contains some graphic violence.
