Good things:
Not so good things: - Writing needs polish - Characters have repetitive arguments/thoughts - Some plot threads left hanging - Central issue (slavery) is never really discussed in full, despite the protagonist thinking about agonizing over it
Overall, if the premise intrigues you you’ll probably be willing to gloss over the writing problems, so give it a look. Personally I’m glad to see a book about two men with a platonic relationship, since that seems rare online.
