Chilly, with a bitter aftertaste

Jul 23, 2009: I didn’t like this story, but it’s not the fault of the writing. The writing, in fact, is of a very high calibre: sophisticated, rich, intelligently researched, effectively surreal – and full of horror. And cold.

It starts off relatively innocently, the elegantly designed website seducing the hapless reader. Even if you don’t decide to read the story, you must take a look at this website – it’s gorgeous. An old lady lies in bed, being interviewed by an academic doing [more . . .]

MILGRAM

Dark title; has good potential.

Jan 11, 2015: I should preface this by saying I’m easily hooked by super hero fiction, and I’m a big fan of scenarios where the protagonist has a genuine alter ego or some other sort of split personality or psychic symbiote.

I found this to be a pretty cool read. You’re thrown into the deep end, and have to pick up details about the world (and how it differs from mundane reality) largely from context and extrapolating on occasional comments. As such, I didn’t [more . . .]
