This story is a nice turn of events on classic fairy tales that can keep older children, teens, and adults coming back for more. The three sisters live in the ‘real’ world. Times are hard, the house is falling apart and even though they have a father they might well be better off without. Though they have it rough, they don’t exhibit the additudes you might expect to see, well at least not all of them do, but even the more callous sister feels remorse and a sense of necessity in the things that we might not enjoy seeing her do. There are quite a few twists and turns and several POV shifts that might be confusing in the current release rate but when the story is complete it will be just fine, as it is now it might be helpful to re-read the previous post to get back in the swing. I myself wish that I could wait until two or three posts are up before I read on but I haven’t been able to restrain myself. The story is that compelling to me. I am very able to connect with the sisters and feel where they are coming from so I can’t wait to see what is in store for them next. This is not an action packed thrills on every page story but it is not too slow for interest either. As for a discription of our Three Witches, I feel they are in a sense the embodiments of the emotions and aspects of all women. We have a strong, stubborn, non-conformist who is most often in a disagreeable mood that is not fit for company and who does not bother censoring her thoughts. We have all been there at least once in our lives. We have a nice girl who is not happy with the attributes she was born with and feels quite ugly and therefore tries to be as unobtrusive as possible, she relies on her crafting talents (which happens to be spinning an exquisite yarn from raw wool). She tries to be a good girl, she will take on the more unpleasant tasks so that she can be seen as useful and benificial in spite of her looks since her self esteem is pretty well on rock bottom. She is very observant and can actually read people quite well since she watches from the sidelines quietly. She will stand up for herself if tread upon too hard though, all in all she is the more emotional and unsure side of a woman who would be quite unprepared if a man took notice of her as the beauty she is. Then we have the beautiful youngest sister who knows exactly how beautiful she is. She is very kind hearted though, as I have said these girls know better than to expect much at all, so far life has taught them to make do with what you have and be happy with it. She is a bit of an idealist and likes to see the best in everyone. She hasn’t yet developed her own set of skills, she has lived with two very capable sisters who have tried to give her the best life they can. She has had a scuffed pair of rose colored glasses on so far to be very honest, sure she can dig deep and call upon her upbringing to help her through tough situations, but she actually hopes to land a good husband and get a free ticket to ride and hopes she will be able to help her sisters when she finds it, I mean after all they could help around the house and stuff, but somehow she manages to think this without coming off as a snotty brat. Honest. As we go through the story these girls get tossed about on the sea of life and are forced to grow, we get to watch as they become more whole as people and they begin to develop some of the strengths their other sisters come by naturally. I can’t wait to see where they finally land.
