"A Dance with Demons" starts in an interesting way—a wizard summons a demon to the earthly plane in order to wreak havoc on his enemies. The interesting thing about this fantasy premise is that the first chapter focuses on the demon’s perspective, and how his bloodlust rises and the surprise he feels when he realizes the wizard knows his name and thus can command him.
Right from the start, the evil demon is plotting how to turn the tables, but willing to go along for now until he can come up with a plan—devious and calculating, and well-described.
Unfortunately, the site is unwieldy to navigate, and the spelling and grammar need a bit of a polish—"racked" should be "wracked," and "plain" should be "plane" and sometimes capitals are lower case when they shouldn’t be. But nevertheless, the story seems pretty solid for anyone that enjoys fantasy fare.
To be fair about the website, the story finished in 2010 and it’s been waiting to be reviewed on the WFG since 2009 according to the listing, so it’s possible the author has moved on to other projects since then. However, it’s worth checking out if you need a swords and magic fix.
