Glamourist Extraordinaire by alienmanbeast

Azadana Rohin is a detective. She is also a glamourist who can shape thought, light and emotion to create crisp illusions. The gift comes at the cost of her own sanity and the sanity those around her, and it nurses an alluring darkness that she cannot deny.

Note: Glamourist Extraordinaire is unfinished, and will likely remain so.  It contains pervasive graphic violence and harsh language; also, some graphic sexual content.

Jun 16, 2016: There are only 5 chapters to this serial, the last of which was posted over 2 years ago. Just based on that, I can’t honestly recommend this.

I will however say that the chapters that were posted showed promise. The author does a great job of describing characters organically and then stuffing them with personality. The protagonist specifically comes across as a perverted female Harry Dresden with a violent temperament and a tenuous grip on sanity. And I do adore unhinged protagonists.

The premise too is compelling. Aza, the titular glamourist, is a rookie police detective in the force’s paranormal squad. When a detail at a crime scene threatens to implicate her criminal past, she’s forced to work with a devastatingly attractive but extremely antagonistic human detective to—

And that’s it. See how annoying that is? Real shame, because if it were still alive I would definitely recommend this serial.
