Aug 8, 2008: Caveat: Winter Rain is a serial novel, still regularly updated. Review is subject to change based on further installments.

I don’t usually care for present tense. In fact, I try to stay away from it if I possibly can.

It wasn’t until chapter two that I fully realized that Winter Rain is, in fact, written in present tense and for that I give the author major kudos.

It flows naturally, and it is very in the moment. We are instantly privy to Tiergan’s thoughts and emotions, and, sometimes, it feels almost intimate.

There is no info dumping which only adds to the suspense and urgency.

And, who can resist reading a story with the tagline, Violence, revenge, and other family values: a story about life at the bottom of the pack.

I sure couldn’t and, at the end of a segment, I always look forward to more.
