I considered giving Dead Boyfriend 4 out of 5 stars because, though I love-love-loved it, the English Literature major in me continues to point out that it’s not exactly Shakespeare. But you know what, I read the first 42 parts of this story last night sitting on my couch while watching a BBC production of Hamlet. Guess which one held my attention and which one slid into the background.

So yeah, Dead Boyfriend isn’t Shakespeare. What it is an fun, high-spirited, and absolutely compelling story of an 18 year old gay vampire hunter kicking ass and (maybe) falling in love.

I started the story expecting to skip to the naughty bits and then move on the the next recommendation but instead found myself caring about the characters, gripped by the plot and (now that I’ve reached the end of the archive) just dying to know what happens next.

This is a serial that really hits the spot, and since this is a vampire story I feel I must address the dreaded T word, perversely I think it will appeal both to Twilight fans and those desperate for an antidote to mopey abstinence vamps. (But, who knows, maybe you ought to take a wild guess about which camp I’m in and then take that comment with a pinch of salt).

I’m so happy to have found it and with no hesitation other than that laid out in paragraph one I’m going to go ahead and give it five stars.
