The Anti-Hero

By cassandrastryffe, member

Feb 15, 2011: Jaeger is not a hero. Jaeger is not a "good guy". Jaeger is a murderer. All that being said, I still found Jaeger to be a very likeable character. She was a little hard to connect with at first, but as the entries flew by at unlikely speeds I found myself understanding her better and better. The author does a very good job of writing an apocalypse story from the point of view of one of the survivors you’d normally want to avoid. The story starts out with Jeager cuffed to a hospital bed undergoing experimental medical treatments. She meets her first zombie chained to a hospital bed. After killing the walking corpse and breaking out she undergoes a frightening transformation that leaves her a lot less human. The treatment of the question of what makes a human . . . well human . . . is vastly interesting and will certainly keep your attention going through the very few slow chapters. All of this is set against a backdrop of volcanic winter and zombies. Fun!
