A Devil in Gods Country by J.T. Peterson

The story centers on six strangers in the bible-belt trying to survive a virus outbreak. A virus that starts out with flu-like symptoms that, if you’re lucky, kills you, and if you’re not, reduces you to man’s most basest nature. Zero reasoning skills and zero humanity, the only thing that remains is the will to exist—and the desire to destroy everyone you see.

The first 15 chapters Tells the story from the multiple perspectives of the 6 main characters until their paths converge. The story then merges into one voice. They will struggle with the need to search for loved ones, the urge to barricade themselves to insure their own safety and finally, the feelings they have for one another.

Note: A Devil in Gods Country contains some graphic violence and harsh language.

Editor’s First Impression

By Chris Poirier, editor

Aug 10, 2011: Better than most of this genre. Has a made-for-TV disaster movie feel in the opening sections, with fast-paced writing and set up for a number of characters. Remains to be seen if it has anything original to say. Worth a look if you are a fan of the genre.
