I didn’t think I’d get hooked. Honest. It sounded too dark, too angsty. I don’t like angsty. But here I am, thoroughly intrigued. I’ve even signed up in order to get extra chapters. Somehow Shane’s dilemmas, and his thoughts about them, draw me in. He’s cool, he’s caring, and he’s got a dark side.
Sadly, my internet connection is too slow for me to listen to the musical interludes (optional, not intrusive), because I get the distinct impression that they’d add to the story.
Overall? A very appealing story, with promised depth. I like the moderation involved – never too much introspection, too much history, too much dialogue. Well-balanced and satisfying reading.
