AN INTIMATE HISTORY OF THE GREATER KINGDOM

Well written erotic fantasy

I don’t read a lot of fantasy because I find most of it painful. The genre is full of unbelievable characters, stilted dialogue and hackneyed plots. Erotica is even worse. That said, Meilin actually makes me care about these characters. I feel like I could meet them some day in an alternate universe. There is magic and sex, and frequently the sex is hot, but it doesn’t overpower the plot. You can also tell that MeiLin has a plan for where the story is going, unlike many authors who seem to "wing it." I can’t wait to find out how Temmin develops and how many of the foreshadowed events will be woven into the tapestry of the story. Yes, it takes a few chapters to get the story rolling but that’s due to its complexity and richness. You don’t understand why there is a "story-within-a-story" at first, but everything has a purpose. I encourage you to jump in, but since there is so much written, you may want to clear your calendar first!

To start, this is an absolutely beautifully written serial novel; if not for its adult content, I have little doubt that it would be sweeping the greater world by storm with its fascinating story, eloquent prose, and masterful development of character.

It’s hard to summarize what makes a story that grabs you "good."  When so many nuances come together to make a lovely experience, it’s almost impossible to define them individually, and doing so makes them less than they originally were.

Needless to say, MeiLin Miranda captured my interest first with her professionally constructed ads, then her artful first chapter, and immediately after with her easy, sensual writing and well-paced plot.  It’s worth a read, whether you’re looking for a lightly fantastic drama, a star-crossed romance, or a fun romp through as many types of and positions in sexuality as any could wish.

AN INTIMATE HISTORY OF THE GREATER KINGDOM

All history texts should be like this!

Alas, in our mundane world, we have to rely on static printed texts with one, presumably and occasionally demonstrably biased, viewpoint. To be able to know with certainty the thoughts, feelings, motivations and surrounding minutae of the pivotal moments in history might truly allow us to not repeat the mistakes of the past. Temmin, Sedra and to a lesser extent, Ellika have this amazing resource – a magical history, powered by mysterious figures who have been there to see it all, and yet the narrative seems to be not distorted by their viewpoints.

Is it reassuring that central ruling figures throughout history are proven to be merely human? Not when the thread comes back to modern days and the present King and Queen. Yet the promise of Temmin, Sedra and Ellika, and the interest shown by deities and other magical protagonists gives hope that this time . . .

Beautifully, absorbingly written, multiple well-fleshed characters and cultures, reasonably frequent posting – well worth a look.
