Alas, in our mundane world, we have to rely on static printed texts with one, presumably and occasionally demonstrably biased, viewpoint. To be able to know with certainty the thoughts, feelings, motivations and surrounding minutae of the pivotal moments in history might truly allow us to not repeat the mistakes of the past. Temmin, Sedra and to a lesser extent, Ellika have this amazing resource – a magical history, powered by mysterious figures who have been there to see it all, and yet the narrative seems to be not distorted by their viewpoints.
Is it reassuring that central ruling figures throughout history are proven to be merely human? Not when the thread comes back to modern days and the present King and Queen. Yet the promise of Temmin, Sedra and Ellika, and the interest shown by deities and other magical protagonists gives hope that this time . . .
Beautifully, absorbingly written, multiple well-fleshed characters and cultures, reasonably frequent posting – well worth a look.
