The story starts with an impressive hook, both in the literary and the physical sense, with the MC Erika losing a fight versus her combat instructor. I personally enjoy well written combat and this story starts out with a pretty decent fight scene and the first segment ends making you want to click the "Next" button to find out what’s going to happen.

The story flows rather quickly and several laughs were heard from my place at the computer as Erika unleashed her sharp wit.

Some of the beefs that I have towards it are similar to a majority of others, spelling and grammatical issues common to on the fly serials, though Belial is extremely adept and quick at fixing the errors that are pointed out to him, a fact that has made the navigation of his site 1000 times better.

There is one thing that I’m not a huge fan of though, and that’s how the breaks in story are done. Where most would use an ellipsis ( . . . ) Belial uses a hyphen (-) making some sentences flow in an odd way. This may be a personal preference thing, as I couldn’t tell you how others feel about it, but it doesn’t sit right with me either way.

All in all its a pretty decent story, but one that I can’t really get into. I have yet to figure out the reasoning behind why I couldn’t follow through to the end, but the sad truth is I couldn’t. I mean, it’s got vampires, werewolves and who knows what else, and I like those things and this story pulls them off. It’s got the type of humor that I love. It’s got action, and characters that I enjoy reading about, but yet something just seems off to me, and so I can’t say that I’ll be adding it to my feeds.

For the record, I write Winter’s Mercenary, a story that has been compared to Blood Moon by some readers.  I don’t feel this has biased my review of Blood Moon, as I have read and enjoyed it.  However, if anyone feels that this review isn’t fair, I encourage you to contact me via the email link in my profile, or by posting in the forums, and we’ll discuss the issues.
