CITY OF NIGHT

Don’t want to reach the city limits.

Editor: S.A. Hunter
January 9, 2009

City of Night is full of choking, horrific dread. One protagonist is afraid of the dark that will eat her, while another is afraid of her ghostly reflection in the mirror. The horror that overtakes each girl as she confronts her fears, that are wrapped in such mundane things, is nail biting. The author does a wonderful job detailing each girls’ silent miseries. The fact that they must face their horrors alone, that no one else can help them, makes their plights even more poignant.

Only one chapter is posted, and it has been over two months since the last update with no note if the writer will be back. I would rate this higher if for that, but when it comes to serialized fiction, one has to give an explanation for delay and when an update can be expected if a reader is to return. As too often happens, works are abandoned and partially done all the time without ever achieving resolution, thus leaving the hapless reader frustrated. I hope the writer does continue because the first chapter had me riveted.
