Metafiction is a hard thing to do right. It’s easy to lose your reader in experimental nonsense or lugubrious faux-Borges prose. When the metafictional conceit is a commentary on the financial reality and dynamics of online fiction, it has even more of a chance to appear crass and ill-tempered. Jul 10, 2010: This is honestly one of the better stories I’ve read online. Wonderful writing, great characterization, good imagery. It also brings attention to current issues and social problems.
I highly recommend it, and I will be watching for more updates and am very interested in seeing where the story goes. I’d like to donate myself, but my husband is in the same boat as the author in the story.
