The writing is shaky and occasionally difficult but not impossible—and I sense that with time and practice the author may improve. What’s needed is a good editor who can prune some parts and help the author expand on others. With the author’s clear sense of direction and straightforward prose (yes, there are paragraphs that aren’t bad) this is not a lost cause.
