Rocks fall.
Everyone dies.
That was just one of the many memorable moments I found reading this. I actually had to pull myself away at one point, having completed the first seven chapters in one sitting.
The story revolves around Elmyrin and Nyx, and explores their relationship as they venture through their quest. Really Elmyrin’s quest.
As the story passes, the reader is slowly introduced to the past of these two women. Both outcasts from their own worlds. At first, it was a little difficult to understand the quick change in point of view, but after a while became clear. Nyx always tells her story in first person, while the reader is allowed to watch from Elmyrin’s point of view. Elle never speaks to the reader in first person. And at times when Nyx would shift into her feline form, the sentences become disjointed and rather abrupt. I liked that, because it showed an internal battle within Nyx.
As this continues I will continue reading. As I said, it is hard to tear yourself away from it.
