I like Enter Three Witches. I read the backlog in a day, which is unusual for me, and I wasn’t expecting to do that. I have a weakness for updated, reworked, or combined fairy tales, and ETW is right up that alley. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys some good ol’ fashioned fairy tales with a twist.
That said, there were some distracting issues. The text is rife with formatting issues, typos, and misspellings. The next/previous links are located at the top of each entry, and are inconsistently added in the first few parts, then disappear altogether. All the chapters are listed/linked in the sidebar, so it’s not terribly hard to navigate, but also not as easy as it could be. Blogspot has default newer/older posts at the end, but they come after all the comments.
I would consider ETW to be mainly a plot driven story, even though it’s centered around the three sisters. There’s a lot of (entertaining) action so for the most part I thought it worked well, at least as far as the PoV characters were concerned. Most secondary characters come across as rather stock and their motivations are glossed over, which I only really minded when it came to romantic subplots. None of the girls’ suitors thus far have really come to life, so I don’t feel much of an emotional connection between them and the heroines. However, the author makes mention of planned edits several times in author notes, so I take it that ETW is still in a first draft stage.
Now that may seem like a lot of complaints for a story I’ve enjoyed overall. But if you don’t mind the rough-around-the-edges aspect I’d say the story is enough to keep you clicking through.
PS Absolutely love the title banner.
