Fickle Fortune by Jeffrey Sabiston

Clarissa and James meet one winter day, and they quickly fall in love and get married. This novel is about James’s relationship with Clarissa, how Clarissa loses James, and how she recovers. In addition to this main plot, there are several subplots.

Note: Fickle Fortune contains some harsh language.

An easy difficult read

By Von, member

Dec 11, 2009: I found fickle fortune to be a delightfully easy difficult read. I like the language the author uses, and I think I like the underlying story, if I could get at it.

The author needs, IMO to rewrite her work, and work on showing and not telling, on letting the characters (and I think they are good characters) be themselves, and do things, instead of thinking.

As well, the story needs to jump a little less. I found myself bouncing from place to place.

But I like this writing, and want to see here do more, and better. I am convinced there is something in there, if it can come out.
