Harbour City by Bryce Hepburn

an online novel and experiment

Harbour City is a humorous film noir-ish story.

David is a washed out 28 year old who accidentally fell out of a four story building and landed on an old woman, killing her. Since his life sucks so much, he has a hard time convincing anyone that he didn’t try to commit suicide.

The setting is Cape Town, South Africa with a slightly surreal twist. The story is told in short chapters published weekly at www.stopthebus.co.za

Note: Harbour City is unfinished, with no recent updates.  It contains some harsh language.

Editor’s First Impression

By Fiona Gregory, editor

Jul 2, 2013: Hee hee. This one is worth checking out for its originality points alone. You’ll learn something about Cape Town, South Africa, and I guess you’ll eventually find out how David manages to beat the rap of killing an old lady when he fell out of a window on top of her. I’m not sure what to think of the three goddesses that seem like a cross between the Three Fates and the Golden Girls.

I’m not finding it laugh-out-loud funny, but I quite like the quirkiness.

Note: This story started out on its own site, but has now been moved to JukePop Serials.
