OASIS

Nurses Are People Too!

Corbin, the hero of this story, is a nurse. It’s not everyday that I run across a story in which a nurse is the protagonist – heroes are traditionally usually given more "prestigious" professions and are doctors, lawyers, and engineers.  Corbin being a humble nurse (and a very capable one at that) is what hooked me into reading the rest of the story and differentiated Oasis from other zombie novels.

The writing is tight and I enjoyed how events in the beginning chapters of the story that served an obvious purpose at the time of their occurrence, popped up again in later chapters serving a secondary purpose I hadn’t thought of/overlooked.

The characters’ actions and words were believable, the setting was vivid, and the action was well paced.  All in all, it was truly a pleasure to read this story and it was time spent that, even though I should have been working, was in no way wasted.  The only complaint I have with the writing comes at the very end of the book.  Rather than spoiling it for future readers, I’ll leave that criticism unvoiced.
