Shallice and Morband by Andrew

Paltrus, the prince of the powerful nation of Dhelian, is sent by his king to resolve a dispute between two neighboring kingdoms, but the dispute soon expands to the far reaches of the world. The ancient lost city of Arrburdak is believed to be found. Its secrets, “Potential unknown and power unused,” may soon be rediscovered, and the two kingdoms will go to war to obtain that power. When investigating the supposed entrance to the city, Paltrus finds himself in the unknown land called Shallice, where he learns that the seemingly minor dispute has roots in the fall of Arrburdak and the founding of the nation of Morband.

Note: Shallice and Morband contains some graphic violence.

Editorial Reviews

Editor’s First Impression

By Chris Poirier, editor

Aug 23, 2011: Told in a genial—though somewhat patronizing—voice, almost as if from a grandparent to a child. The characters speak without ego, saying exactly what the plot needs them to when it needs them to. All in, it feels very much like a story for children. 9 chapters, in all.
