I’ve been reading this web fiction since it began and it is a fairly solid piece of work. What captivated me when I first began reading were the new worlds, physical laws, powers, and races. It’s not easy to create a universe from scratch, but this story does it (and does it well). The characters are detailed enough that they feel like people you could potentially run into at the grocery store; they have substance, histories and futures that you want to read more about.
The reason I stopped reading the story is: it’s become too muddled. What attracted me in the beginning was the handful of incredibly detailed yet mysterious characters. By now, the story has several handfuls of characters who are ALL detailed – I can’t possibly keep up with who loves whom and who is a double agent for whom and aarrgh! Besides the sea of characters the reader has to keep track of, the storyline has become a multiple-headed beast that would put the mythological Hydra to shame. The complexity has become overwhelming and, as a reader, I just gave up on making heads or tails of it all.
This is NOT to say the story is a waste of time. I very much recommend this web fiction as worth a read. It will inspire you with the sheer power of creation words have. But much as I LOVED Inu-Yasha and Naruto and Shattered Remnants of a Dream when they first started out, there comes a time when the story feels like it’s being drawn out and just needs to end.
