THE IRON TEETH

Fairly solid fantasy

Oct 13, 2016: Before we start, I’ve only read the first "Book" of the Iron Teeth. Each book is comprised of four separate sections, each made of roughly 6-11 individual posts of roughly 3,000 words each. The Iron Teeth currently has four main Books.

The story is set in a fantasy universe and most of the story is told through two main viewpoints: Saeter, a world weary woodsman turned bandit and Blacknail, a goblin.

Much of the serial is focused on the relationship between these two characters and their interaction with the world around them.

The writing feels good, what spelling and grammar errors may or may not be present weren’t numerous enough at any point to stick in my memory. The pacing is such that I was eager to come back and read the next part and didn’t ever feel like I had to push forward for the sake of continuing.

The only two major negative points I have about this work are that at the end of Book 1 doesn’t have what feels like a strong cliffhanger or a strong conclusion and stopping point and this is about the friendliest version of "Dark Fantasy" I’ve ever read. That isn’t a big deal at all, just a misnomer.

Some less generic positives for me personally were the small twists on typical monster ecology and the magic system.

All in all, the Iron Teeth is a good read that I’d recommend you check out.
