The Mushroom Wars by Adam Gashlin and Michael Kazmierczak

In 1996, Dr. Beuctus Guggenheim, head of Research and Development at Cantspell’s Olde Fashund Soupe Phactorie, was given the task of creating a preservative for cream of mushroom soup.  His actions set into motion a cataclysm, opening a link between our world and the ‘Mushroom Zone’. Soon a legion of Mushrooms claimed our world for their empire.  A campaign of total human annihilation began, with only a makeshift army of underpaid civilians to stand in its way.

The Mushroom Wars is a tale of inter-dimensional warfare taking place in past, present, and future, chronicling the struggle of Humanity against an unstoppable foe of mushroomesque creatures.  It is a story of the Human Condition, or else.

The Mushroom Wars is a free scifi/humour webnovel series, of which ‘Guggenheim’s Mistake’ is the first book. It updates with a new chapter every Monday or so.

Note: The Mushroom Wars contains some graphic violence and harsh language.

An ongoing series, with new episodes weekly

The writing in the prologue is very silly and I suspect the story will get sillier.  One sentence contains the longest string of words starting with "m" that I’ve ever seen in print.  Could be a lot of fun if you’re in the mood for a story about mushroom soup.

I find the story to be a whimsical fantasy that provides us with a look at the ridiculous to the hysterical. The authors are surely stretching their and our imaginations, but there have been worse movies made and books written. Recommended for the light hearted group who do not take their story lines and facts seriously.
