The Other Kind of Roommate by Tartra

Violence well employed.

The Agents want to kill him: this is a fact that Alex has burned into his brain. Whenever he goes out, wherever he stops, they’ll be out there and closing in. He has to stay safe. No more standing out, no friends, no interacting, and no errands – which is exactly what he hasn’t been doing for years ‘cause Xander is an asshole.

Beth is about to learn firsthand what the Agency needs with her upstairs neighbour(s). Impossible powers and shadowy groups should have been the worst of it, but thanks to Xander’s backseat driving from the corner of Alex’s mind, they’ve got a bigger problem: Starbucks.

Note: The Other Kind of Roommate contains pervasive harsh language; also, some graphic violence.

A serialized novel, updating sporadically

Now imagine that the man has a voice in his head (I like to imagine that the voice is Nicolas Cage, because he’s just about the right level of insane for this insane serial. But you can choose whatever voice you want to). Also imagine that this voice helps the man become a killing machine—a machine that [more . . .]

Dry roast, add water, puns.

Jul 1, 2015: The Other Kind of Roommate (TOKoR) is a dark, psychological exploration about the terrible strains of crippling caffiene addiction and unusual interior design. Writing from one of the countries in the world with highest caffeine intake per person per day, I can relate. I too turn into a violent psychopath when I can’t get access to my sweet, sweet addiction of choice and I’m used to dealing with twitching, gibbering people one bad sentence away from trying to tear my lungs out through my pelvis.

Dark, gritty anti-hero humor!

By Alexander.Hollins, member

Jan 5, 2015: Alex has a friend. A friend in his head. His friend likes to kill people, which is good, because they have a lot of people following them, trying to kill them over a power they have.

Violent but amusing, in a Deadpool kind of way, The Other Kind of Roomate is well written, with believable characterizations and real people who happen to be horrible, horrible people, just like you and me. A touch Jason Bourne (book, not movie), A touch X-men, [more . . .]
