The Turned by Kase Villand

Jameson is a teenager in a world where most people are lucky to live past 30 years. His village is assaulted nightly by The Turned, walking dead that are infectious right down to their fingernails. Everyone lives in constant fear of being caught unprotected, and becoming Turned themselves. But when Jameson is infected, it doesn’t kill him- instead of killing him, the infection forms some sort of symbiosis with him, and for the first time in his life, he doesn’t fear the setting sun. With his freedom, he finds that he is not the only one who is immune. He also finds that there are much greater things to fear, and not all of them hide from the sun.

Note: The Turned contains some graphic violence and harsh language.

Mar 24, 2010: The Prelude is well-written. Darren has been bitten and he knows he’s going to Turn soon but he wants to get to a town where he can write a report for the next team, write a letter to his family, and tell the villagers to destroy his body.
