Editor’s First Impression

By Fiona Gregory, editor

Jul 16, 2013: Slow but satisfying. It’s not a fast paced read, but as I get into it I find it very interesting. Each of the opening chapters introduces a new character: a crime boss, two brothers with telepathic abilities, a boy who doesn’t need to sleep. Individuals with secret paranormal powers trying to find each other, for good reasons and bad, eventually come together in a college town called Wren. Not entirely polished – there are a few instances of wrong homonyms, etc – but fairly well written. Hosted on JukePop.

Bah! Another JukePop…

By illlogicmedia, author of Prime Mover

Nov 13, 2013: If you’ve read any of my reviews then you are aware that I am not fond of stories submitted that are housed on JukePop. Just so you know, it isn’t an automatic dismissal for me to NOT give it a good faith effort. After all, you may just come across a diamond in the rough and I could find that "one" story that makes me less annoyed at the whole JukePop thing.

I digress . . .

This story isn’t it, I’m sorry. It seems the author is very adamant about creating paragraphs with equal amounts of words. There are some simple grammar mistakes that really make reading even the first chapter quite a chore. I am not fond of glaring grammar mistakes.

Please, take this advice to heart, get a friend to proofread for you before you release a chapter. Good grammar and good spelling gives you competence to your readers.

I wouldn’t recommend this due to the lack of flair, slow prose, and some really bad grammar.
