In a few years the world will experience the fallout from multiple global financial disasters, an energy crisis, ramped up natural disasters and lack of good leadership.  As these factors creep insidiously into our lives, three friends decide it is time to go home.

Facing the new perils of travel, the friends come across another threat, difficult to pin down.  A great sacrifice in human life is planned and executed, giving this new threat more strength.  One of the three dies, one of them is not quite human and the last finds his place in this world among people not his own.
