A 'VERSE FULL OF SCUM

Not enough scum

Sep 20, 2008: After 32 chapters, I’m having a hard time figuring out what to say about A ‘Verse Full of Scum. At times, it works, and works well. At other times, it’s just okay.

The story is told first person by Ghost, a bounty hunter in a somewhat Firefly/Serenity universe. He’s hired by a government operative from one of the rich "civilized" planets to capture Pietre Gans, a "Magicker" responsible for several brutal murders. A Mean Street, But Worth the Trip

Jul 14, 2010: It’s a mean "Street" out there, but fun to watch from a safe distance. This story has a short setup leading to a long, sharp drop into fast-paced action.

The viewpoint character, Gina, is a prostitute who sells not sex but something more intimate. She scans people’s thoughts and emotions with the help of a drug called Spice. Unlike some of the strung-out telepaths on the Street, Gina is good at keeping her head on her shoulders. Unfortunately, that’s not enough.
