DEAD END STREETS

Fun serial!

I confess I was skeptical when I saw that this was about vampires and other paranormals.  It’s a trend that seems to be everywhere these days and I expected to see more of the same-old.

To my surprise, DES is full of real, thoughtfully-drawn characters who don’t succumb to the cliches of the genre.  The world-building is solid and interesting, with demons trying to survive among humans as poorly-understood second-class citizens.

DES occasionally has minor word choice and grammar glitches typcial to a serial that is being written as the author goes along.  But there are far fewer of these problems than with most serials that are written on-the-fly, which is a testament to the author’s talent and attention to detail.

The author is interested in delivering a quality story that satisfies the reader, and she definitely delivers with her fun and engaging characters.  That so many of the characters happen to be demons feels secondary to the big themes and character development going on.
