Rock and Roll and Root Beer

Member: Von

I am handicapped in reviewing this book . . . I didn’t and don’t like rock music, even that of the 1980′s (which the author informs me was the heyday of that art form . . . or whatever one wishes to call rock and roll). However I loved both the hitchikers guide to the galaxy and Galaxy Quest, both of which this book seems to take off from.

Like Alice in Wonderland (which was not about Rock and Roll, for which I am grateful) this book seems to take pleasure not just in nonsense, but serious nonsense. Our hero, for example, gets turned into root beer. I read a lot of sci-fi, and that is a new one on me.

If you like nonsense, if you like sci-fi spoofs, and most particuarly if you like 1980′s rock and roll, you may well enjoy this book.
