The Iron Teeth by ClearMadness

A dark fantasy web serial

All Blacknail the goblin ever wanted was to live a peaceful life in his sewer home, and eat as much as he could fit in his stomach. He certainly never asked to be captured and whisked away to the far off Iron Teeth Mountains. There, Blacknail is taken in and made a servant by the outlaw Herad and her crew of bandits.

Among the monster filled forests and snow peaked mountains of the North he will grow into something far more than a simple goblin. As the world around him slides into ruin Blacknail will fight to survive, and learn to live with the men and women of the North. When an ancient evil rises Blacknail will be there to meet it, and leave his mark on the world forever.

However, first he has to get over his crippling fear of trees, and survive in a place where everything considers him to be the perfect size for a quick snack . . .

Note: The Iron Teeth contains pervasive graphic violence; also, some harsh language.

Fairly solid fantasy

By Is_Generally_Hostile, author of The Comatose Girl

Oct 13, 2016: Before we start, I’ve only read the first "Book" of the Iron Teeth. Each book is comprised of four separate sections, each made of roughly 6-11 individual posts of roughly 3,000 words each. The Iron Teeth currently has four main Books.

The story is set in a fantasy universe and most of the story is told through two main viewpoints: Saeter, a world weary woodsman turned bandit and Blacknail, a goblin.

Somewhere between okay and good, needs time to mature

By TanaNari, author of Price

Nov 15, 2015: The purple prose is strong with this one, especially at first. It’s not a painful read, like some I’ve reviewed before, but it’s a slow read. Most chapters could be cut in half without costing a single important detail.

The overall numbers are a straight 3.5 in every arena- more than adequate, good even, but needing time and improvement. I almost wish I’d come to this story later, after seeing where the plot was taking itself . . . then I might be able to [more . . .]

Not Sure What’s Going On

By JPV1000, author of Warbler

Nov 12, 2015: So basically, there’s no direction or plot to this. It advertises itself as ‘Dark Fantasy’, but the only dark parts of it are the facts that these characters are enslaving a goblin, and a bad rape joke. I’m not even sure who I’m supposed to be rooting for here . . . The characters can’t really be distinguished, and while the writing’s pleasant enough to follow I suppose, there’s no purpose to it. It starts with a drake attacking a village, which it can destroy as it is a ‘Crystal Host’, yet we never [more . . .]
