I very much enjoyed this story. I am waiting for the rest of it on pins and needles, the characters are quite compelling, I was able to "feel" them quite easily. The author has brought us along in a here and now story with the backstory coming out in relative bits, instead of slowing the telling of the tale with a long section of backstory. The story has the principle of magic as a rule instead of it being something special that the folks have to hide. I suppose that some could draw a similarity to Harry Potter but I think it to be much better, more lively and definitely more snarky. It also contains an overlaying lesson about predjudice and being expected to live up to "the family standard" that I find to be honest as well as intriguing. All in all I highly recommend this tale to anyone who is even remotely interested in magical/fantasy genres.
