May 10, 2013: I’ve read this for a while now but waited until there were a fair few chapters before writing a review.

It’s quite a difficult story for me to review as I’m normally reading Sci-fi, action and fantasy – I don’t have much to compare it with. I keep coming back though.

It’s quick to get into and start relating to the main characters. Holly doesn’t have much knowledge of the Hollywood scene that she is trying to succeed in but she isn’t stupid, this works quite well as it gives plenty of opportunity to explain the socio-political setting in-story without just throwing information at the reader.

The author also manages to give titbits of interesting hints at larger plot points to come but it isn’t the over-arching ‘end of the world’ plot, so it gives me a refreshing break from my usual more action based reading.

The writing is, subtly, very good and well crafted. It’s a pleasure to read but not in an obtrusive way. I’d love the chapters to be longer, but I think have been increasing in length which is wonderful. Generally I leave it a week and read two at once though so it’s not much of a problem.

It’s definitely worth reading.
