ORBITAL ACADEMY

I thought, space was cold.

By Tempest, author of Mage Life

Apr 11, 2014: Right, well the other reviewers have covered the adult content. Yeah, there is a lot of it and well, its not my thing. But it is very well written. Underneath or between or behind the XXX stuff is a cool story.

It also calms down as you move along, the sex is still present, but its more woven into the story.

The gist of it is, well, I’ve sat here looking at the screen for ages trying to find the words. It’s sci-fi, space stations in orbit around a planet.

There are tensions between the various stations and the planet

This I can say with no spoilers at all.

The world that Maddison crafts is solid and believable. The characters are well formed and convincing. The plot develops at a decent rate, it doesn’t race, which in this I feel is perfect. There is plenty of time for you to get your head around the characters at the very heart of the story

So there you go, If you like erotica with a bit of character development and plot. Or like a sci-fi with a bit of spice. This is for you.

ORBITAL ACADEMY

In Space, everyone can hear you moan

By Alexander.Hollins, member

Feb 14, 2014: Orbital Academy is a tale of sex, space, sex, students, academy life, sex, intrigue, sex, magic, laser blasts, sex, love, doubt, heartache and sex.

Did I mention sex? This story is very firmly (all pun intended) in the erotica category. You have been warned!

The story is in part that of one Jane Auspett, instructor at the Academy, where young rookies learn to fly, pilot drones, and do lots of things to support a war that’s on (there’s always a war on). As the most hardcore (again, pun intended) instructor around, she pushes them to levels that make them the elite. Then the intrigue and mystery begins. Suffice it to say that the war is NOT what you expect, with many revelations about the people who live on the planet they all work above, the Orbitals where they all stay, and the commanders above them.

Oh, and along the way, every has sex. A lot. That may be my only quibble, is that with one or two exceptions, EVERY update has had a sex scene. It’s a bit much sometimes, and some of the tropes are obvious, for example, you can see the first threeway that occurs coming (no pun intended. THIS TIME) a klick away. The sex however is mostly well written, with a minimum of overly purple prose, and a LOT of different options. My main quibble is that everyone is pretty damn good at it, but I can’t quibble because, well . . .  I really like the sex writing a lot. The writer hits my own preferences pretty regularly, with lots of foreplay, some light power exchange, and lots of teasing.

The writing is generally pretty tight, there are a few grammatical and punctuation errors here and there, but not much, never enough to interfere with enjoyment. Characters are, aside from prowess in bed, realistic and believable. The long term story asks more questions than it answers.

If you like some good sci fi, and you like erotica, Read.

ORBITAL ACADEMY

Space Cadet Sex and Much More

By Fiona Gregory, editor

Feb 8, 2014: This is a playfully frisky space opera adventure. The author has noted that it started out as erotica but took on a life of its own and developed into a fully faceted webserial. Indeed, so far every chapter has included a sexual encounter described in sensual detail. Orbital Academy begins as a school story – a squad of rookie pilots start their training and get to KNOW each other, teacher too. It then morphs into an action packed adventure when they are sent on a dangerous mission. It’s not your typical space universe setting, and there have been some surprising twists so far. The writing style is lively and engaging. Erotic escapades forge bonds of love and loyalty that become the heart of the story, as danger, tragedy, and corruption challenge the squadmates and their instructor. Getting some, though, isn’t a problem.
