All That Shimmers…

Jul 23, 2008: A book called "Soon I Will be Invincible" helped give superhero fiction a shot in the arm – it started a new genre of superhero books. Original superhero stories, not novelisations of the already famous heroes who have sunk into the public consciousness.

Stories that involve the super, the not-so-super, those struggling with their powers or embracing it, those "blessed with suck" or just given a power that is easy to keep under wraps.

THE LEGION OF NOTHING

Unable to tear away!

May 8, 2011: When I started reading Legion of Nothing, I read it for almost six hours straight. It was that engaging. The narrator, Nick, is endearing and as a reader I found myself feeling sorry for him even as I cheered him on—no one likes to have their destiny picked for them, and to be a "normal" teenager stuck following in your grandfather’s footsteps as a super hero? Not an enviable task when you think about it.
