Revisited Fairy Tales

Jul 4, 2013: One of the things I like about the crop of stories and films retooling old fairy tales is that they seem to honor (in a modern way) one of the things that the old tales usually attempt – to make a point to the reader. This is something that myths excel at, but usually there are ‘morals’ that fairy tales are trying to communicate, as well, and it makes me happy seeing modern people continually finding new meanings in these old tales.

Apr 12, 2016: A wonderful world full of lesbian gay, bisexual, ace and bigender characters, nonstandard relationships, neuroatypicals . . . and some magic, both of technical background stuff, fae craftmanship, and those strange wonders that brighten our eyes. Various sexualitys are explored or at least present, gender issues much more breifly. Effects of neglect, torture, and rape on the characters and their emotions are explored as a major element of the story structure, with ptsd as likely the focus as actually getting work done. A lot of characters worry very much about how ‘crazy’ they are, [more . . .]
