I have two big ambitions: the first is to travel to 100 countries and live in 20 of them; the second is to become a full-time writer. Countries I've lived in recently are: South Korea, Syria, Libya, Yemen and Romania. I am currently based in southern Oman, on the north-west coast of the Indian Ocean. This is the 94th country I've been to so far. I have visited more than 20 in the last 12 months, which included a six-month overland trip around all of Latin America. I write both fiction and non-fiction. On my blog, I'm currently serializing an offbeat thriller, called The Mongolian Girl. In May, a funny article of mine, called Some Surprising Things About Korea, will be published in Dark Roasted Blend, which with more than a million hits a week, is one of the top 150 web sites in the world. My next big project is a travel book about a life spent working my way round the world.
