Editor’s First Impression

May 11, 2013: Even though I’ve read the four chapters currently available for this story, I still feel I should call it a first impression, since it doesn’t feel like the story’s quite gotten off the ground yet. The idea behind this collection of short stories is that they’re all supposed to be about Helitheren, a new fantasy world that two young authors have come up with. I can see that the two seem enthusiastic about their writing, and their world.

An engrossing read

Sep 7, 2012: I read this series of stories in one sitting, unwilling to step away from the screen until I had finished.

Although the world of Kherishdar sometimes makes me uncomfortable, I attribute that to the depth of worldbuilding and Hogarth’s ability to portray the alien so very clearly.

Unlike other reviewers, I didn’t feel that the story suffered from the multiple narrators; despite the different viewpoints, this is a story about Shame, and [more . . .]
